What SLAs should I expect from a POS field service provider?
Most SLAs for POS field service come down to a few practical things…how quickly someone can respond, how long it takes to fix the issue, and how much of your footprint is realistically covered.
Response time usually means either how fast a technician can get on-site or how quickly a replacement unit can ship. Resolution time is about getting the system back up and running, not just acknowledging the issue. And coverage is the part people sometimes overlook…whether those response times actually apply across all your locations.
At IW Technologies, field service is built around a network of more than 1,850 vetted technicians, which allows us to reach most of the U.S. within a reasonable distance. In practice, that means next-business-day response is achievable across the majority of locations.
For situations where waiting on a repair isn’t realistic, there’s also advance exchange. A pre-configured replacement unit is shipped out same day, and the failed device is returned afterward. That way the store can keep operating without waiting (for repairs to take place) through a full repair cycle.
